Professional Learning and Ethical Practice:

Description:

InTASC - The teacher engages in ongoing professional learning and uses evidence to continually evaluate his/her practice, particularly the effects of his/her choices and actions on others (learners, families, other professionals, and the community), and adapts practice to meet the needs of each learner.

Danielson Framework Component - Professional Responsibilities. (4a: Reflecting on Teaching. 4e: Growing and Developing Professionally. 4f: Showing Professionalism.)

Reflection:

For this standard, I engaged in ongoing professional learning by attending weekly practicums while student teaching at Parkway Manor Elementary. The sessions were proctored by a university professor, Dr. Sandra Chambers, who was also my supervisor in the field. Practicum involved writing a weekly journal entry that reflected on field work while integrating the Danielson Framework. By using this practice of self-reflection, I identified areas of strength and weakness in my professional persona. I then took action and corrected any and all errors in my instruction. The goal of reflection is better practice. This action based journal achieved that goal. An example of how I grew professionally was through attaining the ability to successfully accommodate for all students and their individual needs.
