Reflection:

I implemented a science lesson here on natural disasters using volcanoes. I understood the central concepts as well as the tools of inquiry (containers, trays, vinegar, baking soda, etc.) and structure of discipline in order for the students to understand the concept of volcanic eruptions. The students loved having a hands on experience to make this concept meaningful and memorable to them. They were able to apply what they learned in the lecture part of the lesson (vocabulary and how to tell when a volcano will erupt) to the activity. Both myself as the teacher and the students were able to take content taught and apply it kinethestically to an interactive experiment that eventually leads to mastery of content (volcanoes and their eruptions).
